AdSense Earnings Decrease when Too Many Ads Listed on One Page

Google AdsenseYou know the streams you can earn money. One of the biggest is AdSense ads on your pages. But if you place TOO MANY ad units on a single page your Adsense earning goes down.

Also, this way you make your visitors leave your site, because it’s not looking content rich.

Less is more when it comes to better producing AdSense pages. Why is it so?

The most important factor to determine if people is clicking your ads is how long they spend on your site. When they come to a site which does not look content rich and they can not find information they are searching because your site is full of ads. They click, but NOT one of your AdSense ads. They click BACK button.

If your content is compelling and visitor sits on your site longer. It is possible that he will click an AdSense ad. The space you use showing all those extra ad groups could better be spent
featuring valuable content, or affiliate program promotion or other stuff that visitor may be interested.

Furthermore, there is a wide gap between the top spot that always cost the most, while each lower position cost less and less. The gaps between the top four bids are very close, in the range of $0.01. But the bid for next spot can be way low.

For example: the bids on a high paying keyword might be $2.00, $1.99, $1.98 and $1.97 for the top 4 spots, and then $0.10 for the fifth spot.

Therefore, you should be running one Google ad block with four high paying bids and the other spot you should fill with advertising content from other sources like affiliate promotion or something else.

Also, you can test it. Say, using 5 or 6 ads on your site page within two ad blocks. Just record clicks and earnings for a page for some time. Try modifing it (move or delete some ad groups) and leave it until you have a few hundred clicks again. Compare with previous results and test again.
